  1. AWESOME!!!!! Congrats on the birth and good on you guys for being so calm :)

  2. Congrats on your beautiful birth and new baby! Your husband seems like a fantastic role model for other expectant fathers. Thank you so much for posting your story and video.

  3. Congrats. :)

  4. We’re early in our first pregnancy and have planned a homebirth with our midwife. Your video was amazing – great work and what a great husband! By the way, I’m also very impressed by how calm your little girl stayed through the whole process. She’s going to be the best big sister!

  5. congratulations!!!

  6. What a beautiful story! I’m here from Bellies and Babies (blog), where I saw the video… then came straight here to read your story. I’m so glad you got the birth you wanted, and it seemed so perfect!

  7. You were so controlled and calm, both of you! And your husband remembered to hand the camera over and spend his energy and two extra hands helping you, and 911 was phoned AFTER. Rather than in a panic and on the phone and mama by herself. Brilliant! I also teach mothers that in this situation they should get on all 4′s (near the ground, so if slippery baby falls it’s not so far) and pad the floor underneath with a towel, for the same reason. But I agree, your hospital birth would have been nothing like this! Sooo awesome. For your daughter(s) too. x

  8. Awesome birth story! Thank you for sharing!

  9. [...] An unexpected unassisted birth story which ended up being just what mama ordered [...]

  10. Yay! What a wonderful birth! The only thing I would have said to make it even more perfect would have been to not call the ambulance and just stayed home and enjoyed your baby :) My 2nd was born very similar, super short labor, barely got off the potty as he crowned to birth him standing up holding on to the bathroom sink. But he was a planned homebirth so we just stayed home and relaxed. It was a perfect birth.

    • I know, right! At the time, we thought it was the best thing to do, but we really should have just stayed at home and enjoyed each other. Especially since once we got to the hospital, they took her away from us because of her “traumatic” birth and high birth weight.
